We offer veneers and crowns to those who wish to replace or repair broken
or weak teeth. Veneers may be used to replace teeth that are chipped,
crooked, discolored, or broken, while crowns may be created to restore
a broken tooth, protect a weak tooth, or to cover a dental implant.
If you are missing a tooth or several teeth, and do not want dentures,
you may have another option. People who have adequate bone mass may have
implants to replace their missing teeth. Implants are extremely durable,
and can last a lifetime. They require the same maintenance as normal teeth,
such as flossing, brushing, and regular dental checkups. They use a small,
sturdy, titanium post that acts like a tooth's natural root structure,
and can be placed in a patient's upper or lower jaw.
A tooth that is sensitive to heat or cold for more than a couple of seconds,
hurts when it is touched, has swelling near or around it, or is discolored,
may require a root canal. Root canals are performed to resolve pulp infections
and trauma. If a patient does not have a root canal to repair their pulp,
the infected tooth may have to be extracted, which can overstress other
teeth and cause the neighboring teeth to drift.
We always perform a complete cleaning during a checkup. We use a special
instrument to scrape below patients' gum lines and remove plaque and
tartar. Once the cleaning is finished, our staff will polish and floss
patients' teeth. Depending on the patient, we may recommend x-rays,
which may diagnose problems that may go otherwise unnoticed, such as impacted
teeth, abscesses, or cysts. Our team uses an x-ray machine that does not
emit radiation, and will provide us with a complete view of your upper
and lower jaw.
Comfort Dental has qualified dentists standing by 24 hours a day, seven
days a week to help patients if they are suffering from painful tooth
issues and require a dentist afterhours. If a tooth begins to ache, becomes
chipped or broken, is knocked out, or is extruded, our dentist can help.
We also replace lost fillings, lost crowns, repair broken braces wires,
remove objects, tend abscesses, and help with soft tissue injuries.
We use inlays and onlays when a cavity or lost tooth structure is too
large to be restored by a simple filling. Inlays and onlays replace most
back teeth fillings, and are often preferred over conventional fillings.
A person may have an inlay or onlay created using gold, porcelain, or
composite resins. Inlays are used to treat teeth that have decay or damage
on their surfaces. Onlays are used to treat decay that extends to a tooth's cusps.
Gum disease is an inflammation of the gums that may damage the bone that
supports the teeth in a person's mouth if it goes untreated. It is
often caused by plaque buildup that infects the gum, teeth, and eventually
gum tissue and bone. Early stages of gum disease may be reversed by brushing
and flossing multiple times a day. A professional cleaning may remove
excessive plaque buildup, and remove tartar both above and below the gum
line. If a gum infection is severe, a root planning procedure may be necessary.
If you have severe crowding, a crossbite, spacing, or an overbite, you
may require braces. However, not everyone wishes to have brackets and
wires on their teeth. Invisalign offers people who need braces an invisible,
comfortable, and overall convenient way to straighten their teeth. By
wearing the clear, custom-made aligners, a person will achieve the confident
smile they always wanted.
Laser Teeth Whitening
Teeth may discolor and stain over time, which may cause a person to feel
embarrassed about their smile. Laser teeth whitening is a fast, long-lasting,
safe, and effective way to reverse discoloration of enamel. The natural
tooth structures remain the same and anesthetic is not required for laser
teeth whitening. Depending on the patient, our office may recommend in-office
whitening, or at home whitening.
Wisdom teeth usually emerge when a person is between the ages of 16 and
20, but in some cases, wisdom teeth may not surface due to impaction.
Horizontal, angular, and vertical impaction may cause swelling and tenderness
in the back of the mouth, and in extreme cases, may lead to painful crowding
and disease. If your wisdom teeth are impacted, our oral surgeon can remove
them with either general or local anesthesia.
